Bayreuth is getting a new gaming event: the first FrankenLAN takes place at the Friedrichsforum (Hofgartensaal) from 23 to 25 October. The LAN party is organised by the club E-Sport UBT together with LFG-Con Hof, Reveal Multigaming and the media advisory service of the Upper Franconia District Youth Council. Project lead is Leon Janßen, chairman of E-Sport UBT. 2026 is a pilot year with just over 60 places; according to the Bayreuther Tagblatt, the event is set to grow in the coming years.
Tournaments in League of Legends and Counter-Strike 2 are planned, plus free play, a tabletop and card-game corner, a Nintendo corner and a streaming academy; according to the organisers, the full programme has not yet been finalised. Play runs from Friday evening to Sunday, until 3 a.m. on the first two nights.
Tickets are only available online in advance: with your own computer ("bring your own computer") the weekend costs 60 euros, or 45 euros reduced; the premium ticket with a provided gaming PC, chair and monitor costs 120 euros. Only adults may take part this year.
