Lionsgate has released an unusual official trailer for 'The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping': it was cut by fan editor Areq. According to BroadwayWorld, it is the first time the studio has entrusted a fan editor with debuting a never-before-seen clip in a major film campaign. The trailer uses the style fan editors have developed on social media.
The sixth 'Hunger Games' film is set 24 years before Katniss Everdeen's story. Sixteen-year-old Haymitch Abernathy (Joseph Zada) of District 12 is reaped for the 50th Hunger Games, the Second Quarter Quell. As with the previous four instalments, Francis Lawrence directs; Billy Ray and Michael Lesslie wrote the screenplay based on Suzanne Collins's novel.
Alongside Zada, the cast includes Jesse Plemons, Ralph Fiennes, Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin, Elle Fanning, Mckenna Grace, Maya Hawke and Whitney Peak. The film opens in US cinemas and IMAX on November 20, 2026.
