Ukrainian and European officials have travelled to Miami for US-led talks on ending Russia's war of aggression. President Volodymyr Zelensky had confirmed that Ukrainian negotiators would hold talks in the US on 9 and 10 October. According to The Rio Times, representatives of the United Kingdom, France, Germany, NATO and the European Union were also invited.

The talks are overshadowed by new Russian attacks. A strike on two buses in Kramatorsk on Thursday killed 30 people, according to agency reports; Kyiv accuses Moscow of deliberately targeting civilians. German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul threatened sweeping sanctions after an inconclusive meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov: "Putin's cruelty knows no bounds." German Chancellor Friedrich Merz offered to host a summit of the so-called coalition of the willing in Berlin, probably in December; according to ZDFheute, the British side agreed.
