Two men were wounded by gunfire during a confrontation in Berlin's Schöneberg district on Friday evening. Police and paramedics were called to Naumannstrasse at around 5:15 p.m., police said. Witnesses had seen an argument among several people before multiple shots were fired. Both injured men were taken to hospitals, and their injuries are not life-threatening, a police spokesperson said.
The suspected shooters fled in one or more vehicles as officers arrived. It remains unclear how many people were involved and what triggered the dispute. Criminal police took over the investigation and secured evidence at the scene.
A possible link to criminal clans is also being examined, a police spokesperson told the Tagesspiegel newspaper; police did not comment on the identities of the injured. There are numerous eyewitnesses and video recordings to be analyzed. “We are really only at the very beginning,” a police spokesperson said.
