Heidenheim and Kaiserslautern drew 0-0 on Friday night in the headline match of the seventh round of Germany's 2. Bundesliga. The visitors made the brighter start at the Voith-Arena, with a deflected shot from Semih Sahin striking the crossbar after nine minutes. Heidenheim then grew into the game, creating chances through Jan Schoeppner and Julian Niehues.

The goalkeepers largely decided the outcome. Kaiserslautern's Julian Krahl denied Niehues and Patrick Mainka after the break, while Heidenheim's Thomas Daehne saved a Marlon Ritter free kick and a late header. Mathias Honsak and Erencan Yardimci both fired over in the closing stages. Kaiserslautern's Naatan Skytta made his first league start after almost two months out injured.

Heidenheim stay third on 14 points, while Kaiserslautern climb to fourth for now with 12. Hertha Berlin lead the table with 18 points. The rest of the round is played on Saturday and Sunday.
