Two key deadlines expire in Bulgaria on Saturday, two weeks before the Oct. 25 presidential election. Voters whose permanent and current addresses are in different towns have until 6 p.m. to apply to vote at their current address, either at municipal offices or online. Those added to such a list can no longer obtain a certificate to vote elsewhere. From Oct. 13, voters can check their assigned polling station, including through the "Izbori 360°" app, according to the Central Election Commission (CEC).
Saturday is also the last day for people with permanent disabilities to request a mobile ballot box. A mobile polling station will be set up in a locality only if at least 10 eligible voters have applied by Oct. 10. People whose disability arises or is certified later may apply through Oct. 19, provided a mobile commission has already been appointed in their area. A possible runoff is scheduled for Nov. 1.
The CEC has also decided that 2,434 polling stations with more than 780 voters each will receive a second voting machine. Machine voting will be available at 9,311 stations nationwide and at 242 abroad, 38 of which will get a second device. The commission has said all 12,800 machines will be in working order.
