British heavy metal band Iron Maiden returned to Costa Rica after ten years. On Thursday night they played Estadio Nacional in the capital San José in front of thousands of fans, the newspaper La Nación reported. The concert is part of the "Run For Your Lives World Tour", celebrating the band's 50th anniversary. Iron Maiden last played Costa Rica in 2016 on the "Book of Souls" tour.
The setlist focuses on the first nine studio albums, released between 1980 and 1992. Songs included "Wrathchild", "Killers", "The Number of the Beast", "Powerslave", "2 Minutes to Midnight" and the epic "Rime of the Ancient Mariner". Singer Bruce Dickinson thanked the crowd for the band's return to the country. The show featured pyrotechnics and a giant axe-wielding mascot "Eddie", with Simon Dawson on drums. The Raven Age, which includes George Harris, son of bassist Steve Harris, opened the show.
The Latin American leg takes the band to Bogotá next, on October 11. According to the official tour page, Quito, Lima, Buenos Aires and São Paulo follow, with the final show in Santiago de Chile on October 31. The band asks fans not to film the shows on their phones. After the tour ends, Iron Maiden will take a break from touring in 2027, according to Infobae.
