Chelsea have tied Cole Palmer down to a new contract on improved terms until 2034, the club announced on Saturday. It puts him among the Premier League's longest-contracted players: only Erling Haaland and Chelsea team-mates João Pedro and Geovany Quenda are also signed until 2034.

"Chelsea means a lot to me and I think the club is going in the right direction," Palmer said. He joined from Manchester City for £42.5m in 2023 and has four goals and two assists in seven matches this season.

Palmer was troubled by a groin problem last season and missed the World Cup in the summer. According to BBC Sport, manager Xabi Alonso expects him to be available for Saturday's game against Bournemouth. Chelsea are 10th after five league games.
