Liverpool without Szoboszlai and Frimpong against Villarreal tonight – Gravenberch back

Frimpong was hurt in the 2-1 win at Brentford; Szoboszlai's issue is not new. Head coach Iraola does not expect Frimpong back until after the November international break.

Liverpool will be without Dominik Szoboszlai and Jeremie Frimpong for Tuesday night's Champions League home game against Villarreal (8pm BST). Frimpong suffered a muscle injury in Saturday's 2-1 win at Brentford, while Szoboszlai is still troubled by an existing injury. Ryan Gravenberch is available again after serving a one-match Premier League suspension.

Frimpong has "obviously" picked up a new muscle injury, head coach Andoni Iraola said: "But it's going to be difficult, I think, before the break," referring to the November international break. Szoboszlai's problem is "not a new injury", Iraola added, "but we need more patience with him".

Conor Bradley, Hugo Ekitike and Giovanni Leoni also remain sidelined, while Federico Chiesa and Wataru Endo are not in the Champions League squad. Villarreal are without Nicolas Pépé because of an eye problem, and coach Iñigo Pérez wants his side to approach Anfield "without fear, with courage".
