On 19 October Housemarque released the Zenith update for Saros, its PS5 shooter that launched on 30 April. The update is free for all owners and was announced at the start of September. At its heart are the Eclipse Layers, a New Game+ variant unlocked after finishing the game: each layer is a harder version with altered rules. Protagonist Arjun wears a Crown that grows with the difficulty, and there are twelve new collectibles.
Also new is Overlord Rush, a mode in which the game’s bosses must be defeated back to back, with an online leaderboard. The Incursion and Ascension sets contain three bosses each and take around ten minutes, while the Totality set features all eight bosses in one go. Ten new modifiers each make the game easier or harder.
Housemarque has also expanded accessibility: an adjustable game-speed slowdown gives players more time to react, and an auto-fire function shoots as soon as a weapon is aimed at a hostile – reloading remains manual. Motion-sensor aiming has been added as well.
