Citroën is reviving its 2CV as an electric car. The Stellantis brand unveiled the 2 CV Concept at the Paris Motor Show on Oct. 11. The company says the car is 3.76 meters long, shorter than the original, with a target weight of about one metric ton. The low weight is meant to allow a smaller, cheaper battery; Citroën gave no power or range figures.
The production version is due in 2028, will be built in Europe and will sit between the Ami and the C3 in the lineup. Citroën is targeting a starting price of about 15,000 euros. Nods to the original include round, free-standing headlights, an upright windshield, a fabric sunroof and a black tailgate that extends down to the bumper.
“The world has changed. But the idea remains the same: to make life more beautiful with Citroën,” said Citroën CEO Xavier Chardon. The original was unveiled at the 1948 Paris Motor Show and sold 5,114,969 units, according to British magazine Classic & Sports Car.
