Bulgarian exchange power 6.57% cheaper on Sunday at €235.11/MWh
The IBEX average price for 18 October is €235.11 per megawatt-hour excluding VAT. Peak hours fall by more than 10%, while traded volume is almost unchanged from Saturday.
The Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange (IBEX) is the marketplace where producers, traders and large consumers buy and sell electricity. On the day-ahead market, the price for every hour is set in an auction the day before. For Sunday 18 October, the average price across the whole day (base) is €235.11 per megawatt-hour excluding VAT – 6.57% less than on Saturday (€251.63). It is the second decline in a row.
During peak hours (8:00 to 20:00), a megawatt-hour costs €210.51 on average – 10.27% less than Saturday's €234.61. In the remaining hours (off-peak, 0:00–8:00 and 20:00–24:00) the price is €259.71, down 3.33% from €268.65. The gap between night and daytime power widens to €49.20 per megawatt-hour.
Traded volume is 86,288.95 MWh, about 0.96% less than on Saturday (87,129.63). Of this, 47,414.25 MWh falls in peak hours and 38,874.70 MWh in the remaining hours. So on Sunday the volume barely changes, but the price drops noticeably, mainly during the day.
