MUBI has released the official trailer for 'Nuisance Bear'. The documentary follows polar bears migrating along Hudson Bay in northern Canada, where their route now runs into tourism, surveillance and hunting. As climate change delays the freeze, the animals are pushed ever closer to towns.
At its centre is a bear labelled a 'nuisance'. It was filmed in Churchill, Manitoba, and in the Inuit community of Arviat in Nunavut. The feature expands the directors' 14-minute short of the same name from 2021.
'Nuisance Bear' premiered at Sundance in January, winning the Grand Jury Prize in the U.S. Documentary Competition; MUBI acquired worldwide rights in May. It opens in Los Angeles on Nov. 6 and in New York, Canada and the UK on Dec. 4. A German date has not been announced.
