Harry Styles dedicated a new song to his former One Direction bandmate Liam Payne on Oct. 16, the second anniversary of Payne's death. At a concert during his residency at New York's Madison Square Garden, he debuted the song "What Is Enough," which he said he had written for Payne about two years ago. Styles played the track on acoustic guitar, the British music magazine NME reported on Oct. 17. "Two years ago today, I lost one of those friends," Styles said, according to NME.
Payne died on Oct. 16, 2024, at the age of 31 in Buenos Aires after falling from a hotel balcony. Argentine prosecutors gave multiple injuries and internal and external bleeding as the cause of death. Former bandmates Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson had also spoken publicly about their grief in the past. The report does not mention any plans to release "What Is Enough."
The 30-concert residency at Madison Square Garden has been running since late August and ends on Oct. 31 with a "Harryween" show. It is part of the "Together, Together" tour, which already included 12 concerts at London's Wembley Stadium. Shows in Melbourne and Sydney follow in December, and further dates are planned for 2027. The tour accompanies Styles' fourth solo album, "Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally," released in March.
