Black Forest Labs has released FLUX 3 Image Klein, a new image model with downloadable weights. The 5.6-billion-parameter model generates images from text, edits existing images and handles up to ten reference images at once. Bounding boxes let users place elements precisely or restrict edits to one region, and output goes up to 4K resolution.

Compressed variants were developed together with Nvidia: according to the company, the INT8 version runs on GeForce RTX cards with 8 GB of memory. A one-megapixel image takes about four seconds with the distilled model on an RTX 5090 and under nine seconds on an RTX 4070. In internal tests, Black Forest Labs says Klein beats larger open models such as Qwen-Image 2.1 as well as the closed Ideogram V4.5 – claims that have not been independently verified.

The weights are released under the "FLUX Kommunity License": individuals and companies with annual revenue below five million dollars may use the model commercially for free, while larger firms need their own licence or the paid API, which starts at 0.009 dollars per 1K-resolution image. The weights are on Hugging Face and GitHub, and the model supports tools such as ComfyUI.
