Protesters blocked the road outside defense company Rheinmetall's site in Berlin's Wedding district early Tuesday. Police said they were alerted at about 5:30 a.m. Eleven people took part, nine of whom glued themselves to the roadway. At one point around 90 officers were at the scene, and Scheringstrasse was closed.

Officers were still working to free the protesters from the road during the morning, a police spokeswoman said. A group calling itself "Peacefully Against Genocide" said it organized the action to protest German arms deliveries to the Israeli military, adding that similar actions took place at defense sites in other German states.

Rheinmetall began arms production in summer 2026 at a former plant of auto supplier Pierburg in Wedding. The site has been the target of repeated protests since then, and climate activist Greta Thunberg has previously joined demonstrations there.
