In the Hakenfelde area of Berlin's Spandau district, plainclothes officers observed a suspected drug deal at around 5 p.m. on Sunday. When an officer identified himself, a 57-year-old man allegedly threw away several small bags and punched the officer in the face, according to police. He allegedly resisted arrest violently, hitting and kicking; a female officer who came to assist was also attacked.
The officer suffered a lip injury, a bruise and head and back pain, while the female officer was hurt on her knee and hand. Both were treated as outpatients and were unable to continue duty. The suspect was also treated as an outpatient in hospital, then processed by police and released. The investigation is ongoing.
