Markus Krösche said goodbye to Eintracht Frankfurt fans at the club's general meeting on Monday night. The 46-year-old, who served as sporting director for just over five years, received a standing ovation from more than 1,300 members at the Jahrhunderthalle. "I will always remain an Eintracht man," he said, according to t-online. He had already said goodbye to the team that morning.
President Mathias Beck was confirmed for four years, with 3 votes against and 10 abstentions among 1,215 eligible voters. "It is an honor, I am very proud," Beck said, according to hessenschau. CEO Axel Hellmann is overseeing sports on an interim basis and did not comment on a successor to Krösche.
According to media reports, including kicker, AC Milan is close to an agreement with Krösche; nothing is official. Young Boys sporting director Christoph Spycher has been mentioned as a successor in Frankfurt, though Swiss outlet Blick reported a move is doubtful because he would have to give up his stake in the Bern club.
