Wardley’s mistake as a warning: Joshua must not fall into the same trap against Fury
Fabio Wardley was countered by Daniel Dubois off the same punch that once cost Anthony Joshua. Both are trained by Ben Davison – and Fury is next.

Daniel Dubois stopped Fabio Wardley inside two rounds in their WBO title rematch in London on Saturday; according to The Ring, trainer Ben Davison threw in the towel. According to a column in The Independent, Wardley repeatedly threw a rear uppercut – and was countered every time.
Anthony Joshua got into trouble against Dubois in 2024 throwing the same punch, with Davison in his corner then too. According to The Independent, the flaw was pointed out on DAZN by none other than Andy Lee, one of Tyson Fury’s coaches. Lee and Davison will be in opposite corners in Cardiff on 11 December.
“Against Fury, Davison and Joshua must be switched on like never before,” writes columnist Alex Pattle. Wardley himself said after the defeat: “We’ll go back to the drawing board as a team.”
