WBC champion Dalton Smith and Alberto Puello faced off in front of thousands of Sheffield Wednesday fans at Hillsborough. According to Fightnews, Smith addressed his opponent in Spanish: “This is my house. You’re in my house now, my friend. You’re already looking skinny.”
Puello, a former two-time world champion, replied: “It’s coming with me now. It’s coming home with me” – apparently referring to the WBC super-lightweight belt.
The fight takes place at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield on 24 October, live worldwide on DAZN. For Smith, who won the title in January by beating Subriel Matías, it is his first defence.
