Ukraine launched more than 1,000 drones at Russia overnight into Sunday, one of its largest aerial attacks of the war. Russia's Defence Ministry said 1,015 drones were destroyed over 15 regions, Crimea and the Black Sea. In St Petersburg, Governor Alexander Beglov said one person was killed and five wounded; the city's oil terminal and the Ruchi oil depot caught fire, and an Ozon logistics centre and a VK data centre were also targeted.
US President Donald Trump called Ukraine's strikes on Russian energy infrastructure 'a disgrace' and wrote that Zelensky 'doesn't want to end this war, and probably never did'. He defended Friday's order waiving new sanctions on Russia, saying he did not want to drive Moscow away from the bargaining table: 'I can sign it later, or any time that I want!' Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Trump would take up to 60 days to assess the economic impact.
Zelensky told NBC that waiving sanctions would strengthen Putin's war effort and that siding with Moscow would be a 'historic mistake' for Washington. He said US intelligence sharing had resumed after being blocked for a period. Ukraine's Foreign Ministry meanwhile apologised after a drone entered Lithuanian airspace and damaged a moving car; no one was hurt.
