FDP leader Wolfgang Kubicki says the exploratory paper of the Left, Greens and SPD in Berlin contains several plainly unconstitutional plans. Speaking to the Funke media group, he called this unprecedented in the history of the Federal Republic, but not surprising. 'When extremists reach for power, the constitutional order comes under pressure,' Kubicki said.

He called the socialisation of housing portfolios of 10,000 units or more 'obviously arbitrary' and said the planned compensation fell far short of constitutional standards. Tenants would suffer and investors would leave: 'Red-green-red makes life in Berlin unaffordable.' A state voting right independent of citizenship was also clearly unconstitutional, he said.

Kubicki also attacked the federal SPD, saying a federal law against socialisation would never pass with the Social Democrats. 'Not a day goes by without the SPD humiliating the Union,' he said.
