Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez gave DAZN his list of the five greatest Mexican boxers. According to Boxing News, he named Julio César Chávez, Gilberto Román, Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales and Salvador Sánchez – Chávez first, in no particular order.
Asked who was the best of them, Canelo sidestepped the question: “I need to study like two years to let you know who’s the best.”
On 31 October Canelo challenges WBC champion Christian Mbilli in Riyadh. DAZN is billing the night as ‘Mexico vs The World’.
