Giant Rooks, from Hamm in western Germany, release their third studio album, 'If Heaven Exists, This Might Be It', on October 16. It follows 'Rookery' (2020) and 'How Have You Been?' (2024), which topped the German album chart. It was recorded partly at Angelic Studios and Real World Studios in the English countryside. Five singles preceded it, most recently 'The Better Life' on September 25; Conic Rose and Solann appear as guests.
Online magazine frontstage calls the record the band's most mature work to date and awards it 9.2 out of 10. It praises the direct, analogue sound and the blend of big indie pop with fragile, intimate moments. Lyrically, the album deals with the search for real closeness, loss, loneliness and the value of everyday bonds.
The band sees the title as a message: guitarist Finn Schwieters told kulturnews they wanted a title that 'gives hope and is positive'. Giant Rooks are currently on tour; after Nuremberg (Oct 14) and Münster (Oct 15), they play Hamburg on release day and Berlin on October 17.
