On 8 August 2023 two legends stood side by side at Gold’s Gym in Venice: Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ronnie Coleman. Schwarzenegger posted the session on his official YouTube channel as “2 Goats Walk Into a Gym” – GOAT standing for “Greatest of All Time”. Coleman summed up the moment: “Fifteen Olympias in the house. This don’t ever happen.”
They trained shoulders, triceps and biceps: machine lateral raises and shoulder presses, machine dips and preacher curls. Schwarzenegger describes the feeling that has driven him for decades: the muscles are “pumping up while you’re moving. I can feel them getting bigger and bigger.”
The video bridges two eras: Schwarzenegger shaped bodybuilding in the 1970s, Coleman later ruled the Mr. Olympia stage eight times in a row. That both now train on machines rather than with the heaviest free weights is no accident – it shows how to adapt training to age and body without stopping.
