Netflix has released the official trailer for 'The Hunchback, Soul of Paris' (original title 'Quasimodo, l’âme de Paris'; German title 'Quasimodo, die Seele von Paris'). The French production is loosely inspired by Victor Hugo's novel 'The Hunchback of Notre-Dame'. It is directed by Jean-François Richet, who previously made the gangster epic 'Mesrine' with Vincent Cassel; the screenplay is by Éric Besnard and Edgar Marie.
Cassel plays a hunchbacked stonemason in Paris in 1830, on the eve of the July Revolution and in the middle of a cholera epidemic. The police are hunting him, and doctors believe his body could help them find a cure. At the same time he tries to protect a dancer he has fallen in love with. Alongside Cassel, the cast includes Karim Leklou as a security chief, Benjamin Voisin as a doctor, Daphné Patakia and Noémie Lvovsky.
The film launches worldwide on Netflix on Nov. 27, 2026, including in Germany and Austria.
