Bulgarian exchange power 7.1% cheaper on Saturday at €280.88/MWh
The IBEX average price for 31 October is €280.88 per megawatt-hour excluding VAT. Peak and off-peak hours fall by almost the same amount, around 7%, and traded volume is lower.
The Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange (IBEX) is the marketplace where producers, traders and large consumers buy and sell wholesale electricity. On the day-ahead market, the price for every hour of the next day is set in an auction the day before. For Saturday 31 October, the average price across the whole day (base) is €280.88 per megawatt-hour excluding VAT. That is 7.05% less than on Friday, when it was €302.20.
This time the decline is even across the day. In peak hours (8:00 to 20:00), a megawatt-hour costs €295.04 on average, 7.14% less than Friday's €317.73. In the remaining hours (off-peak), the price is €266.72, 6.96% below the previous day's €286.68. The gap between daytime and night power narrows slightly from €31.05 to €28.32 per megawatt-hour (own calculation).
Traded volume is 82,433.43 MWh, about 11.2% less than Friday's 92,864.93 MWh (own calculation). Peak hours account for 45,348.80 MWh and the remaining hours for 37,084.63 MWh. The lower price and volume fall on a Saturday; the data themselves do not state the reasons.
