Anthropic has rolled out a major update to its Claude apps for smartphones and tablets. Voice mode is meant to respond faster, cope better with quiet speech and noisy surroundings, and sound more natural in languages other than English. Several Claude accounts – a personal and a work one, for example – can now stay signed in at the same time and be switched without logging out. The official video from the Claude channel presents the new features.
On the iPad, content created by Claude opens beside the chat and can be expanded to full screen. On Android, Chromebooks and foldables get a laptop-style layout with a resizable sidebar, trackpad support and keyboard shortcuts. The interface now supports 33 languages, 24 of them new, including Bengali and Turkish. A pull-down search gesture for iPhone and iPad has been announced but is not yet part of the update.
Anthropic also officially presented voice mode via Apple CarPlay, which according to reports has been live since early September. The app has to be opened manually on the car's screen; there is no wake word, and Claude cannot control vehicle or phone functions. The AI models and prices are unchanged.
