Distributor Tobis has released an official German teaser for 'A Talent for Murder' (German title: 'Ein Talent fürs Morden'). It is directed by Dutch photographer and filmmaker Anton Corbijn ('Control', 'The American'). Helen Mirren plays crime writer Patricia Highsmith, who in 1995 lives in seclusion in a chalet in the Swiss Alps.
On behalf of her publisher, young Edward, played by Alden Ehrenreich, visits her there to persuade her to write one last Tom Ripley novel. Highsmith first refuses, then sets a condition: Edward must help her invent the perfect murder. What follows is a cat-and-mouse game in which reality and fiction blur. Olivia Cooke and Juliet Stevenson also star.
Joanna Murray-Smith wrote the screenplay, based on her 2014 play 'Switzerland'. The film has been in US cinemas since 23 October and opens in Germany on 5 November, with a running time of 106 minutes.
