Distributor capelight pictures has released the German trailer for 'The Phantom of the Opera', a new French adaptation of Gaston Leroux's 1910 novel. It is directed by Alexandre Castagnetti, who wrote the screenplay with Camille Fontaine. The story is moved to present-day Paris.
Deva Cassel plays young dancer Anastasia, who wins a place in the ensemble of the Opéra Garnier. Artistic director James Figueras, played by Romain Duris, is staging the controversial opera 'Orpheus' – written by the 'Phantom of the Opera'. Rehearsals are overshadowed by mysterious accidents, and Anastasia falls for an enigmatic pianist (Julien de Saint Jean) whose bond with her seems to cross the line between life and death.
In France, SND has had the film in cinemas since 28 October, including IMAX screens. It is due to open in Germany on 11 February 2027.
