Manchester United lost 2-0 at Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday. After a goalless first half in which United had a goal ruled out for offside, Morgan Rogers put Chelsea ahead in the 50th minute. Lisandro Martinez was shown a second yellow card after a VAR review for a challenge on Wesley Fofana at a corner, and Cole Palmer converted the resulting penalty in the 64th.
Chelsea are fourth with 16 points. United are 16th on seven points, one point above the relegation zone, and could drop into the bottom three by the end of the weekend. They had lost 3-0 at home to Bournemouth and 4-1 at Como in the Champions League in their previous two games.
"We didn't really get going second half," United manager Michael Carrick said. "There's no hiding from the fact that we haven't won enough games." He said he had not yet seen the red card. Asked whether he expected to be in charge for the next game, he replied: "Yeah." United host Roma in the Champions League on Tuesday.
