Volkswagen Group has rolled out Microsoft's AI assistant Copilot to more than 330,000 employees. Microsoft announced the move, and the partnership was presented on Thursday at the Microsoft AI Tour in Cologne. According to Microsoft, more than 300,000 people use the Copilot Chat assistant each month, and over 26,000 AI agents were active across the group in the past month.
“The value of AI arises when it is available across the board in everyday work,” said Sophie Vassarotti, head of group data and AI at Volkswagen. Microsoft Germany chief Agnes Heftberger said Volkswagen shows how companies can evolve AI “from a personal productivity tool into the foundation for future AI innovation”. The two companies also plan to expand the group-wide data platform “Intelligent Data Foundation” based on Microsoft Fabric.
Microsoft did not say which group brands are involved. The group's IT engineering unit had already been using Copilot inside the Codebeamer software from vendor PTC.
