Borussia Mönchengladbach president Rainer Bonhof has rejected calls for his resignation. "Now more than ever. I'm not running away," the 74-year-old 1974 World Cup winner told the Rheinische Post. "I have always been a fighter." The club's fan umbrella group demanded earlier this week that the entire board step down.

Bonhof said the criticism affects him: "Of course it hurts me." He also turned to the sporting situation: "The only thing that matters to me is what is happening right now. We have to get out of this mess." Bonhof, president since 2024, left open whether he will run again in 2027.

Gladbach are last in the Bundesliga without a point after six losses. They play at VfB Stuttgart on Friday night (20:30 local time).
