Michael Carrick will remain in charge of Manchester United for Sunday's Premier League home game against Bournemouth, Sky Sports reported on Friday. Club officials are increasingly concerned about the team's form, and no decision has been made beyond Sunday. United are winless in seven games and lost 4-1 at Como in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Carrick signed a two-year deal in May after leading United to third place in the Premier League last season. "There are no excuses at all. It is not acceptable," he told TNT Sports after the Como defeat.
Captain Bruno Fernandes criticized the coaching staff's tactics after the match. Sky Sports said he will keep the armband, though the club was disappointed by his comments. Carrick was scheduled to hold a news conference on Friday afternoon. United play Chelsea in the league on Oct. 31.
