Another name has emerged for the undercard of Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua at Cardiff's Principality Stadium on December 11: Dutch kickboxing star Rico Verhoeven told talkSPORT he has been offered a fight with former WBC world champion Deontay Wilder. “They offered me a fight with Deontay Wilder, and I said yes,” Boxing News quoted him as saying.
Nothing is settled yet. “If there is a yes from the other side, then it is going to happen,” Verhoeven said, adding that he could not yet confirm he would be on the card. Last week, talk for Wilder had centred mainly on a fight with unbeaten cruiserweight Jai Opetaia.
In May, Verhoeven faced heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk at the Pyramids of Giza and, according to Boxing News, was stopped in the 11th round. No official undercard for the Netflix event has been announced.
