Bulgarian exchange power 9.98% dearer on Friday at €256.57/MWh
The IBEX average price for 16 October is €256.57 per megawatt-hour excluding VAT. Peak hours rise by 10.6%, but evening and night hours remain more expensive.
The Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange (IBEX) is the marketplace where producers, traders and large consumers buy and sell electricity. On the day-ahead market, the price for every hour is set in an auction the day before. For Friday 16 October, the average price across the whole day (base) is €256.57 per megawatt-hour excluding VAT – 9.98% more than on Thursday (€233.29). It is the second rise in a row.
During peak hours (9:00 to 20:00), when factories and offices are working, a megawatt-hour costs €243.89 on average – 10.60% more than Thursday's €220.52. In the remaining hours (off-peak, 1:00–8:00 and 21:00–24:00) the price is €269.25, up 9.42% from €246.06 on Thursday. Evening and night power therefore stays more expensive, by €25.36 per megawatt-hour.
Traded volume is 97,734.23 MWh, about 1.67% less than on Thursday (99,396.10). Of this, 53,335.45 MWh falls in peak hours and 44,398.77 MWh in the remaining hours. Prices for Saturday 17 October will be published this afternoon.
