Universal Pictures Germany has released a second German trailer for 'Werwulf', the new film from Robert Eggers ('The Witch', 'The Lighthouse', 'The Northman', 'Nosferatu'). With the werewolf story, the director returns to folk horror.
The story is set in 13th-century England: a village is plagued by a mysterious beast, and old folklore becomes gruesome reality for its inhabitants. According to Kino&Co, a family seeking safety in a time of famine and disease finds refuge in a new community over which a deadly threat hangs. The cast includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Lily-Rose Depp, Willem Dafoe and Ralph Ineson.
In the US, Focus Features is releasing the film in cinemas at Christmas 2026. In Germany, 'Werwulf' opens on 7 January 2027.
