Bulgarian exchange power 8.76% dearer on Thursday at €233.29/MWh
The IBEX average price for 15 October is €233.29 per megawatt-hour excluding VAT. Evening and night hours rise by 16.2% and cost more than daytime hours.
The Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange (IBEX) is the marketplace where producers, traders and large consumers buy and sell electricity. On the day-ahead market, the price for every hour is set in an auction the day before. For Thursday 15 October, the average price across the whole day (base) is €233.29 per megawatt-hour excluding VAT – 8.76% more than on Wednesday (€214.50). After two days of falling prices, the trend turns upwards again.
During peak hours (9:00 to 20:00), when factories and offices are working, a megawatt-hour costs €220.52 on average – 1.51% more than Wednesday's €217.24. The rise is much stronger in the remaining hours (off-peak, 1:00–8:00 and 21:00–24:00): €246.06, up 16.20% from €211.75 on Wednesday. On Thursday, evening and night power is therefore €25.54 more expensive than daytime power.
Traded volume is 99,396.10 MWh, about 2.72% less than on Wednesday (102,179.20). Of this, 52,934.90 MWh falls in peak hours and 46,461.20 MWh in the remaining hours. Prices for Friday 16 October will be published this afternoon.
