Ahead of its cinema release on 22 October, distributor X Verleih is promoting 'Die andere Seite' ('The Other Side') with a new trailer, which FILMSTARTS published on 13 October as the film's second trailer. Mariko Minoguchi ('Mein Ende. Dein Anfang.') wrote and directed; it is her second feature film.
Nina Hoss plays Hanna, a doctor who has lost her husband and child to a contagious disease. As an infected person she is seen as a carrier, shunned, and retreats alone to the mountains. There she meets a young woman (Precious Mariam Sanusi) who has also been cast out. Together the two plan to cross the Alps heading south to live in freedom.
The film is a German-Austrian co-production with a running time of around 106 minutes. Barbara Petritsch and Çiğdem Teke also star.
