SC Freiburg play their first Conference League league-phase match on Thursday evening, hosting Czech top-flight club FK Jablonec at the Europa-Park Stadion. Freiburg arrive as the Bundesliga's unbeaten leaders after a 2-1 win over Schalke 04, sealed by a late Keisuke Goto goal, leaving them with 13 points from a possible 15.

The match is Julian Schuster's 100th competitive game in charge. The 41-year-old said he still felt "a deep sense of gratitude" for being able to coach the club. He warned that Jablonec are a team that can defend very well, adding that their penalty shootout win over Rangers in the play-offs said a lot about them.

Winger Niklas Beste is doubtful after taking a knock to his shoulder and neck against Schalke and training individually, while Florent Muslija is out with a cruciate ligament rupture. Jablonec are fifth in the Czech league.
