The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles, the museum of the Oscar academy, holds its sixth annual gala on Oct. 17. Charlize Theron will receive the Icon Award, Colman Domingo the Vantage Award and director and composer John Carpenter the Luminary Award. Taylor Swift will close the evening. Co-chairs include Tom Ford, Robert Rodriguez, Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw; Rolex is the partner.
Swift is eligible this season for the best original song Oscar with "I Knew It, I Knew You" from Pixar's 'Toy Story 5,' released in June. The singer has never been nominated for an Oscar. "Taylor is an extraordinary talent whose work resonates around the world," said museum director and president Amy Homma.
The gala, held since 2021, is a pre-Oscars fundraiser; proceeds support the museum's exhibitions, screenings and education programs. The 99th Academy Awards take place March 14, 2027.
