Google DeepMind and Google Cloud will give up to 200 European scientific researchers direct access to their frontier AI models, along with $3 million in compute credits, the company said on Wednesday. The tools on offer include AlphaFold 3 for protein structure prediction, the WeatherNext weather model, AlphaGenome, AlphaEvolve and AlphaEarth Foundations.
Google said the effort aims to help bridge "the compute gap European scientists sometimes face." It supports the European Union's AI for Science strategy through the RAISE initiative. The companies cited predicting extreme weather patterns and mapping molecular structures as examples. The announcement did not include selection criteria or deadlines.
On Tuesday, Google made its new flagship model Gemini 4 Argon available to developers, businesses and paying subscribers. It is designed for long, multi-step tasks in areas such as coding, law and finance. Introductory pricing is $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens through Nov. 30, doubling afterward. Google is also offering 10,000 scientists six months of free access to the top usage tier of its Antigravity development environment.
