VfB Stuttgart visit Slovan Bratislava on Wednesday evening (9 p.m. CEST) on the second matchday of the Champions League league phase. Coach Sebastian Hoeness declined to reveal his goalkeeper. Dennis Seimen kept a clean sheet on his Bundesliga debut in a 2-0 win at Paderborn. Asked whether he would start again, Hoeness said he would keep it secret for now and that everyone would see on matchday.
Defender Jeff Chabot, who was substituted at Paderborn, is fit, according to Hoeness. Stuttgart opened the league phase with a 3-1 win over Viking Stavanger, while Bratislava lost 6-1 at Paris Saint-Germain.
Hoeness still warned about the Slovak record champions: "We are facing the record champion from Slovakia which plays good football and has a clear plan." He also played down the state of the pitch in Bratislava, saying the team should not focus too much on the conditions.
