After defeat in Madrid and a red card for Yoro, the defender openly criticised technical director Jason Wilcox. United are winless in five games, and coach Carrick said he had not seen the interview.

Manchester United lost 2-0 at Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. Pablo Barrios scored after 47 seconds and Ademola Lookman added a late second, shortly after Leny Yoro was sent off following a VAR review for denying Jonathan David a goalscoring opportunity. A Johnny Cardoso goal just before half-time was ruled out for handball. United are now without a win in five matches.
Defender Lisandro Martinez then made headlines. Speaking to Amazon Prime, he accused the club's leadership of failing to strengthen the squad in the summer: "I expect more from our technical director. I have to be honest." The role is held by Jason Wilcox. Referring to repeated managerial changes, the Argentine said the club also had to look at "other areas".
Coach Michael Carrick said he had not seen the interview, adding there was disappointment within the group and the team had to move on quickly. Former captain Wayne Rooney said Martinez had "maybe gone a bit too far" and that such criticism should have stayed internal. United visit Leeds in the Premier League on Sunday.
