Netflix released the first trailer for 'Narnia: The Magician's Nephew' (German title: 'Das Wunder von Narnia') on Tuesday evening. Greta Gerwig ('Barbie') directs. The film is based on C. S. Lewis's 1955 novel, which comes first in the series' chronology.
Children Digory Kirke (David McKenna) and Polly Plummer (Beatrice Campbell) travel to other worlds through magical experiments, witness the creation of Narnia and meet the lion Aslan, voiced by Meryl Streep in the original version. Along the way they accidentally free Jadis, the future White Witch, played by Emma Mackey. Daniel Craig appears as the magician Andrew Ketterley; Carey Mulligan and Ciarán Hinds also star.
Unusually for a Netflix production, the film opens in cinemas first, including IMAX. In Germany it opens on Feb. 11, 2027, according to Moviebreak and Kinomeister, and it will stream on Netflix from April 2, 2027. Moviebreak reports a budget of at least $200 million.
