With just over a week to go before release, the first reactions to 'Clayface' have been posted on social media following early screenings. Collider's Steven Weintraub wrote: 'Clayface was fantastic. An awesome addition to the DCU that doesn't require any knowledge of DC to enjoy.'
Peter Gray (The AU Review) called the film 'dark, violent, with little levity to offset the nastiness', according to GamesRadar, and an exciting addition to James Gunn's DC universe. Several highlight Tom Rhys Harries as actor Matt Hagen, who turns into a clay monster. There was also isolated criticism, for example of the story.
James Watkins directs from a script by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini. 'Clayface' opens in German cinemas on Oct. 22 and in the US a day later.
