Haas have signed Rafael Câmara as a Formula 1 race driver for 2027. The 21-year-old Brazilian has agreed a multi-year contract and takes over the seat of Esteban Ocon, who leaves the team after this season. Câmara is a member of the driver academy of Ferrari, Haas's engine partner. Oliver Bearman, another Ferrari junior who has raced for Haas since 2025, is expected to be his team-mate, although according to Motorsport-Total.com that has not yet been officially confirmed.

Câmara won the Formula Regional European Championship in 2024 and the Formula 3 title at his first attempt in 2025. In Formula 2 he leads with 207 points ahead of the final two rounds, seven clear of Nikola Tsolov, having taken the lead by winning the most recent race in Baku. According to Motorsport-Total.com, he beat Leonardo Fornaroli and Ryo Hirakawa in an evaluation in which all three tested an older Haas car, including three days at Portimão.

"I'm very happy to be joining TGR Haas F1 Team as a Formula 1 driver," Câmara said. Team principal Ayao Komatsu said he was "really excited to sign such a young, amazing talent like Rafael Camara" and, according to RaceFans, praised how well he handled the car in the Portugal test with little time to learn it.
