Napoli will be without David Neres for the time being. The club said an examination revealed a low-grade injury to the semimembranosus muscle in his right thigh. The Brazilian developed muscle problems in the 3-1 Champions League loss at Villarreal. His rehabilitation has begun, and Napoli did not give a return date.
"Unfortunately we have lost Neres," coach Massimiliano Allegri said Friday ahead of Saturday's Serie A game at Venezia (3 p.m. CEST). Of striker Lorenzo Lucca, he said: "In any case, he is a player with important qualities."
Venezia are still without a point after six matchdays and have since hired Davide Nicola as their new coach. The game against Napoli will be his debut.
