Chelsea will be without captain Reece James for the time being. The 26-year-old has undergone successful minor knee surgery, the club said. James was injured in training and had already missed the 5-1 win over Bournemouth on Oct. 10. "Those assessments confirmed surgery would be the required course of action," Chelsea said.
His rehabilitation has already begun at the club's Cobham training ground. Chelsea did not give a return date. "Everyone at Chelsea wishes Reece a speedy recovery and will support him on his road to return," the statement said. Sports Mole does not expect him back until after the international break in November.
A right back by trade, James had mostly played in midfield under coach Xabi Alonso. Chelsea play at Everton in the Premier League on Saturday (12:30 p.m. BST). According to Goal, Chelsea are sixth with 10 points from six games, with Everton fifth on the same number of points.
