The WBC has approved middleweight champion Carlos Adames' request to fight above the division limit on November 17, FightNews reports. The title will not be at stake. “If he loses that fight, his WBC Middleweight World Title will be declared vacant,” the report says.
If Adames wins, he must next face mandatory challenger Meiirim Nursultanov, with the winner then due to meet interim champion Jesús Ramos Jr. The WBC will review the champion's obligations at its annual convention in Acapulco on November 8–13.
Adames signed with Zuffa Boxing earlier this week. FightNews did not name an opponent for November 17.
